Angkor Wat Temple, Cambodia

Angkor Wat (literal meaning “City Temple”) is a huge temple complex in Cambodia which features the glorious remains of several capitals of the Khmer Empire, during the 9th to the 15th century AD. The Angkor temple in the complex stands on a lifted porch above the rest of the city. The temple consists of three rectangular galleries rising to a central tower, with every level higher than the last. It should be noted that the outer gallery of this temple measures 187 x 215 meters. On the second level, it measures 100 x 115 meters, while the inside gallery is a 60 x 60-meter square area. The tower that rises above the central shrine rises 65 meters above the ground.

Akshardham Temple

Completed in the year 2005 by the spiritual organization BAPS, there is no expense has been spared in embellishing the Akshardham temple. This huge temple complex is inspired and moderated by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the present head of Swaminarayan Hinduism. The central monument of this complex is 43 meters high, 110 meters long and 96 meters wide. The central monument is covered top to bottom with carved details of flora, fauna, dancers, musicians, and different deities. This temple is entirely made up of Rajasthani pink sandstone and Italian Carrara marble, and the most impressive thing about it is that it has no support from steel or concrete. Karnak (Great Hypostyle Hall)

Despite the fact that it is badly ruined, few sites in Egypt are more impressive than Karnak. It is counted as the largest ancient temple complex in the world and portrays the collective achievement of various generations of Egyptian architects. In fact, Karnak has various temples. The great Hypostyle Hall is one of the most popular structures of Karnak. This has an area of 5,000 m2 (50,000 sq ft) with 134 gigantic columns well arranged in 16 rows supported a roof, which has fallen today. Borobudur, Java Island

Situated on the Indonesian island of Java, the Borobudur is renowned as the largest Buddhist temple in the world. The temple was constructed over a period of about 75 years in the 8th and 9th centuries during the dynasty of Sailendra. It is built by using estimated 2 million blocks of stone. The Borobudur is divided into three groups: base, body, and top, which is similar to the three main division of a human body. The base is a 123×123 meters square in size and 4 meters (13 feet) high of walls. The whole surface area is approx. 2,500 square meters. The body is made of 5 square platforms each with retreating heights. The top is a magnificent monumental Stupa with a main dome at the center. The dome’s height is 35 meters above the ground level.
Apart from these, Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Jetavanaramaya (Sri Lanka), Temple of Saint Sava, Temple of Christ the Saviour (Moscow) and Baalbek (Lebanon) are some of the other largest temples in the world.
